Kathryn Joy (FormerlyHannan), LMT,

Upledger CranioSacral Practitioner, Usui Reiki Master & Body Worker

I have always had a curious mind which has taken me on the ‘road less traveled’. I’ve had many interests, but mostly steered in the direction of meaning of life and Self-discovery. As a teenager and young adult, I had rich, meaningful adventures such as sweat lodges, sacred pipe ceremonies, drumming circles, and fire walks. I traveled, taking Self-discovery seminars and wilderness adventures in Northern California. I got my degree in psychology, and then worked for hospice until my curiosity turned me toward acting. Growing up my childhood heroes were Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett, and I always wanted to try my hand in show business. I did improv and theater for a while in Chicago and loved ‘being real in an imaginary situation’ (Sanford Meisner).  I had always been interested in energy techniques, which I started studying at 17, adding Usui Reiki to my studies when I was 19. Then in my mid 20s, curiosity changed my course again. Health and well-being took the forefront of my interest when injury from a car collision drew me towards therapeutic massage. I was amazed how improved my back felt after my first Myofascial Therapy.  The therapist worked muscles I had never even heard of! That's when I knew being a bodyworker was the right path for me. I now celebrate over 20 years as a massage therapist and bodyworker.  I enjoy learning new techniques to incorporate into my practice.   In 2018, I added CranioSacral to my list of services. What an asset this form of therapy has been for myself and clients!

So, what’s next? Time will tell. As many of my long-standing clients know, I’m always learning something new. Currently I am studying spiritual-psychology called The 3 Principles. I have had private coaching based on the book ‘Creating the Impossible’ (Michael Neill) and the Three Principles of Syndy Banks. Currently, I am enrolled in a one year international coaching program called The Heart of Service. Meanwhile, I continue my studies in  T'ai Chi,  I can not say enough  about the benefits T'ai Chi has been both personally and professionally. I am truly grateful!
